Colorado CEO Charlie Schneider ID’d As Victim In Thursday TN Fatal Plane Crash

BLOUNT COUNTY, TN. (THECOUNT) — Charlie Schneider, CEO of Colorado company MyGoFlight, has been identified as the victim in a Thursday fatal plane crash in Blount County, Tennessee.

Schneider was killed following a small plane crash near McGhee Tyson Airport in Alcoa, Tennessee on Thursday morning. Another unidentified passenger was injured in the crash.

According to reports, first responders from the Alcoa Police Department, Alcoa Fire Department, Blount County Sheriff’s Office and American Medical Response, responded to reports of a single-engine plane crash on Singleton Station Rd., near McGhee-Tyson Airport, around 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

Officials say, the two people onboard were transported to area hospitals where Schneider was later pronounced dead of injuries suffered in the crash. The other person remains hospitalized in unknown condition.

The Cirrus plane was equipped with a parachute that deployed, according to AOPA, “The CAPS ballistic parachute was deployed, but the airplane crashed and was destroyed by fire.”

The FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause of the crash and have not yet released a preliminary report. However, AOPA reported, “Although final accident reports will require time for analysis of the events surrounding the crash, an early assumption is that Schneider was demonstrating the SkyDisplay and encountered wake turbulence.”

MyGoFlight is a company that sells items for passengers and pilots.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
