PHOENIX, AZ. (THECOUNT) — Two people were killed Saturday night in a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle near 39th Drive and Camelback Road in Phoenix, authorities said.
The deceased victims were identified as Shawn Stokes, 30, who was operating the motorcycle, and Diana Fletes, 46, who was a passenger in the other vehicle.

According to Phoenix police, officers were called to the area at approximately 9:15 p.m. for reports of a crash involving a motorcycle.
Through the investigation, authorities determined that Stokes was riding a motorcycle when he crashed with a vehicle occupied by two women and a teenage girl.
Stokes was pronounced dead at the scene. Fletes, who was riding as a passenger in the vehicle, was also pronounced dead at the scene.
The other two occupants of the vehicle suffered minor injuries, police said. Their identities were not released in the initial report.
Authorities believe the speed of the motorcycle was a factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
Police have not released additional details concerning the circumstances leading up to the collision, including the direction of travel of the vehicles or whether any other factors contributed to the crash.
The fatal collision occurred near the intersection of 39th Drive and Camelback Road in Phoenix.
Phoenix is located in Maricopa County in central Arizona and serves as the state capital and center of the greater Phoenix metropolitan area.
