FRESNO COUNTY, CA. (THECOUNT) — The mother and father of Uber CEO Travis Kalanick have been identified as the victims in a Friday boat crash in Fresno County, California.
Kalanick‘s mother, Bonnie, 71, was killed and his father, Donald, was seriously injured in a boating accident in Fresno Friday.
According to reports, the couple were boating at Pine Flat Lake near Fresno, when the vessel came into contact with a rock.
“Last night Travis and his family suffered an unspeakable tragedy,” Uber said in a statement. “His mother passed away in a devastating boating accident near Fresno and his father is in serious condition. Our thoughts and prayers are with Travis and his family in this heartbreaking time.”
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
