KANKAKEE COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — Peter Jay Chapin, of Momence, Illinois, has been identified as the victim in a fatal tree cutting accident in Kankakee County Wednesday night.
Chapin, 68, was killed when a tree he was cutting fell down on top of him near Grant Park on Wednesday.
According to reports, Chapin was discovered in the area of IL-17 underneath several branches with a chainsaw nearby at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Chapin was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the death remains under investigation.
