GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA. (THECOUNT) — Peter William Kussman, of Altamonte Springs, Florida, has been identified as the victim in an early Tuesday vehicle crash.

Kussman, 36, was killed, and his passenger, 25-year-old David James Makey, seriously injured, in a crash on Interstate 75 near Gainesville Tuesday morning.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Kussman was operating a Ford Explorer traveling on I-75, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 3 a.m. Tuesday. The vehicle then overcorrected and rolled over, ejecting both men.

Makey was transported to an area hospital in serious condition.

Kussman was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Neither victim were wearing seatbelts at the time of the violent crash.

The investigation into the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
