SARASOTA, FL. (THECOUNT) — Gerald Nicolas, of Sarasota, Florida, has been identified as the pedestrian fatally struck by a big-rig Sunday night in an apparent suicide on Interstate 75.
Nicolas, 65, was killed while on-foot in the area of Fruitville Road, in Sarasota, when he darted in the path of an oncoming semi-tractor traveling on I-75 around 2:45 a.m.
Nicolas was pronounced dead at the scene of massive blunt force trauma.
Nicolas was arrested last week Wednesday, February 19 on 50 felony counts of child porn possession, reports MySunCoast.
Police believe Nicolas may have committed suicide.
The cause of his death remains under investigation.
