MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD. (THECOUNT) — Montgomery Village, Maryland man, Adonias Gomez, who was arrested in 2018 over a knife attack at a Wendy’s restaurant, has been identified as the victim fatally struck by a vehicle in Montgomery County Wednesday night.

Gomez, 62, was killed after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday night, Montgomery County police detectives said.

Officials responded to calls of a man down on Midcounty Highway near Pier Point Place around 7:05 on Wednesday night. When they arrived, Gomez was suffering fatal injuries from a vehicle strike.

Gomez resided at the nearby Cider Mill Apartments.

Officials determined that a 2014 Acura MDX was traveling southbound on Midcounty Highway and was approaching Pier Point place when it fatally struck Gomez.

Gomez was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

The incident remains under investigation.

In December of 2018, Gomez was arrested near a Wendy’s drive-thru area after police responded to reports of a man armed with a knife and threatening customers.

When police arrived, they found Gomez holding a large knife with blood on it in his hand. Gomez refused to comply with all the orders given by the officers. Officers deployed a Taser and Gomez was taken into custody.

At the time, Gomez was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, disorderly conduct, and endangering the public safety while being intoxicated.
