NORTH FORT MYERS, FL. (THECOUNT) — Courtney Danielle Gainey has been identified as the suspect sought by police in the fatal hit-and-run vehicle strike of 14-year-old Allana Staiano on Saturday.
According to breaking reports, deputies are searching for Gainey, 23, after she was accused of killing Staiano with a vehicle as the teen was on-foot on McDaniel Drive, near Gish Lane, around 7 p.m. Saturday. Gainey then fled the scene.
Staiano was a seventh-grader at Calusa Middle School.
She was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.
Deputies now say they have been looking for Gainey since Sunday night, reports NBC2.
Gainey has been arrested previously in Lee County for battery.
Anyone with information on Gainey’s whereabouts should contact police at 911.
