WESTFIELD TOWNSHIP, IL. (THECOUNT) — Wade Schaefer of Charleston, Illinois, has been identified as the victim in a fatal crash near Westfield Township Friday morning.
Schaefer, 32, was killed in a crash on Clarksville Road in Westfield Township Friday morning, according to officials.
According to police, Schaefer was operating a vehicle on Clarksville Road near North Cleone Road, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway. The vehicle then traveled into opposing lanes and struck a vehicle head-on.
Schaefer was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
The condition of the other driver was not provided by officials.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
