BARGERSVILLE, IN. (THECOUNT) — Robert T. Shirley of Bargersville, Indiana, has been identified as the victim in a fatal vehicle crash early Saturday.
Shirley, 42, was operating a GMC pickup truck when he was involved two vehicle crash overnight near Bargersville.
According to officials, Shirley was traveling on W Division Road near State Road 135, when a Jeep Wrangler, operated by Tina Marie Isley of Morgantown, for unknown reasons, crossed centerlines and exited the roadway and into opposing lanes. The Jeep then struck Shirley’s pickup truck head-on.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office and Bargersville Fire Department responded to a call of a vehicle crash and when they arrived officers found Shirley trapped in his vehicle around 12:30 a.m.
Shirley was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
Isley was transported by ambulance to IU Health-Methodist hospital in Indianapolis with a possible fractured ankle, reports WTHR.
Investigators believe alcohol played a role in the accident, but they are awaiting toxicology results.
The crash remains under investigation.
