PIKEVILLE, TN. (THECOUNT) — Steve Freeman, of Pikeville, TN, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash Thursday night in Pikeville.
Freeman, 19, was killed in a crash in on Freeman Road in Pikeville Thursday night near Highway 127.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Freeman was operating a BMW 325 on Freeman Road around 9 p.m. Thursday, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway. The vehicle then rolled over on to Highway 127 before coming to a rest on its roof.
Freeman, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead on the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.
The THP says the victim could have survived if he had been wearing a seatbelt. No further explanation was provided.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
