PA Pair Ross Deshong, Paula Young ID’d As Victims In Saturday Chambersburg Fatal Motorcycle Crash

ST. THOMAS TOWNSHIP, PA. (THECOUNT) — Ross Deshong, 54, and Paula Young, 50, were killed Saturday evening after their motorcycle collided with a turning vehicle at an intersection in St. Thomas Township, Pennsylvania State Police said. The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries in the crash.

According to a Pennsylvania State Police news release, the fatal collision occurred just after 5 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Lincoln Way West and Hade Road in Chambersburg.

Investigators said Deshong was operating the motorcycle eastbound on Lincoln Way West with Young riding as a passenger when they approached the intersection. At the same time, a vehicle driven by a 34-year-old man was preparing to make a left turn.

State police said the driver turned left directly into the path of the oncoming motorcycle as it entered the intersection, resulting in the collision.

Both Deshong and Young were thrown from the motorcycle and suffered fatal injuries, according to investigators. Authorities said both victims were wearing helmets at the time of the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Two passengers, identified only as a 33-year-old woman and a 30-year-old woman, were not injured.

Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the fatal crash. No charges had been announced as of Sunday, and investigators have not released additional information regarding contributing factors.

St. Thomas Township is located in Franklin County in south-central Pennsylvania, west of Chambersburg and near the Maryland border.
