ALEXANDRIA, LA. (THECOUNT) — Hoang Thai Nguyen and Le Bui Chatelain have been identified as the victims in an early Friday morning single-vehicle crash.
Nguyen, 43, and Chatelain, 40, both from Avoyelles Parish, died in a single-vehicle crash Friday around 1:30 a.m., according to Louisiana State Police.
According to reports, Nguyen was operating a Nissan traveling on Highway 71, south of Alexandria, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway. The vehicle then struck a substantial tree before coming to a rest.
Neither victim was wearing a seatbelt, reports TheTownTalk.
Both Marksville residents were transported to area hospitals where they were pronounced dead, according to the release.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
