NY Man Daniel Austin ID’d As Victim In Saturday Shoreham Fatal Motorcycle Crash

SHOREHAM, NY. (THECOUNT) — Daniel Austin, 23, of Mastic Beach, New York, died Saturday in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on William Floyd Parkway in Shoreham, according to Suffolk County Police. Authorities said Austin was the sole occupant of the motorcycle.

Shoreham is a hamlet in the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County on eastern Long Island, about 60 miles east of Manhattan.

According to Suffolk County Police, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 1:05 a.m. Saturday on the southbound side of William Floyd Parkway.

Investigators said Austin was operating a 2024 Honda motorcycle southbound when, for reasons that remain under investigation, he lost control of the bike and was ejected.

Austin suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding emergency personnel.

Police impounded the motorcycle for a routine safety inspection as part of the ongoing investigation.

Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities have not released any information indicating that another vehicle was involved.

The crash marked the second fatal motorcycle collision investigated by Suffolk County Police within a 24-hour period. Earlier Saturday, a Port Jefferson Station motorcyclist was killed in a separate single-vehicle crash on Nesconset Highway in Centereach.
