Victim Killed In CA HS Shooting Family Member Of Los Angeles Sheriff Department Employee

SANTA CLARITA, CA. (THECOUNT) — Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva confirmed Thursday that one of the students killed in a shooting at Saugus High School in Santa Clarita was the family member of a Los Angeles Sheriff Department employee.

The name of the LASD employee or their position was not provided by officials Thursday night.

“As it turns out,” Villanueva said, “one of the deceased was a family member of one of our own employees.”

Villanueva went on to say that he spoke to the Aunt of the victim, who is a LASD employee, to offer the department’s condolences.

Santa Clarita is known for housing a substantial law enforcement and first responder community.
