BALTIMORE, MD. (THECOUNT) — Have Mercy drummer, Aaron Alt, passed away on March 12, according to a Facebook post by the band’s frontman, Brett Young.
Alt, 29, died, but little other information was released on his passing. No cause of death was provided.
The former, original drummer for Have Mercy from 2009 until 2014, Alt played drums on the band’s 2012 EP My Oldest Friend, 2013 LP The Earth Pushed Back and 2014’s A Place of Our Own, reports AltPress.
The post says that Alt passed away a few days ago. According to a Maryland obituary, Alt passed away Tuesday, March 12.
In the post, the band say that they waited to share the news to respectfully give friends and family the time to grieve and process his passing. You can read the band’s statement below.
“I’ve been waiting to post anything about this on HM’s social media and giving our friends and family time to process this loss,” the band say in a statement. “Aaron was a very caring and loving guy. We spent everyday together for years, lived together and toured together for a long time. We’ve lost a great human who played a big part in what Have Mercy has become.
“Life is incredibly short. Sometimes shorter than anyone expects. Tell the ones you care about that you love them.”
Additionally, the vocalist for Have Mercy, Brian Swindle shared another photo of Alt to his Instagram a few days ago, commemorating his friend and former bandmate.
