SURRY COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Benny Gray Sprinkle has been identified as the tow truck driver struck by a vehicle while loading up another vehicle, according to the Surry County Emergency Services.
Sprinkle, 59, was hit by an oncoming vehicle while on State Hwy 268, in Elkin, NC, around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
Officials said the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities, reports MyFox8.
Sprinkle was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the collision.
The wreck is still being investigated by Elkin police and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
