YORK, PA. (THECOUNT) — The York County coroner’s office on Saturday released the autopsy on Sprint Car driver Hoyt Greg Hodnett, who died in a crash at BAPS Motor Speedway in Newberry Township on Thursday night.
The autopsy showed the cause of death to be multiple blunt force trauma. The manner of death was ruled accidental.
Hodnett, 49, of Spring Grove, lost control of his vehicle in Turn 1, causing him to hit a wall at high speed, the coroner’s office reported earlier. Hodnett died upon impact, the release said. source
He was the World of Outlaws 1993 Rookie of the Year and a 20-time winner on the national touring series.
Racing in central Pennsylvania was canceled this weekend because of Hodnett’s death.
The race track had a race that night, “Race Against Abuse of Children Everywhere” Night, according to its website.
