INMAN, SC. (THECOUNT) — Brandi Nichole Almond, has been identified as the woman arrested after showing up in the baby’s room of a couple’s home and tried to steal the infant, deputies say.

Almond, 34, is facing burglary and kidnapping charges after Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to two homes in Inman, South Carolina — approximately 20 miles northwest of Spartanburg — shortly after 10:30 p.m. Friday when residents at two addresses reported finding a woman in a red dress in their homes.

Almond entered both residences between 9:30 and 9:53 that night, according to incident reports.

A resident at one of the homes told police he found Almond in his baby’s nursery. The man said that he went into the baby’s room to investigate a noise he’d heard, and when he entered he saw Almond on top of the dresser in the room. He said the door to his home was locked. source

The Sheriff’s Office incident report states that Almond repeatedly told the man and his wife, “Give me the baby,” and tried to take the baby away from his wife.

The man told police that Almond then lay on his front lawn for several minutes before going into a second home on the same street.

A woman at that residence told police that Almond came into her house “rambling for help” while she and a guest were painting. According to the report from that incident, the woman’s guest then dragged Almond outside, where Almond attempted to hide from deputies.

Almond repeatedly yelled as deputies attempted to restrain her, the report said.

Almond was taken to an area hospital and then to the Spartanburg County jail.

She was arrested and charged with two counts of third-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
