PERRY COUNTY, Mo. (THECOUNT) — Kara L. Knop, 17, and Georgia R. Lindenberg, 90, have been identified as the Chester, IL, victims killed in a head-on crash Tuesday afternoon north of Perryville, Missouri.
The Missouri Highway Patrol said, Knop was operating a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu north on Highway 51 when the double-fatal crash occurred. Lindenberg was Knop’s passenger.
About a half-mile south of Quarry Road, Knop’s 2005 Chevrolet Malibu crossed into the southbound lane of Highway 51. Her car struck an oncoming tractor-trailer head-on, the patrol said. source
Knop was pronounced dead at the scene. Lindenberg was transported to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
An accident report stated both occupants of the Malibu were wearing seat belts.
The man driving the semi-truck was treated for minor injuries.
