Trent Walker has been identified by DPS officials as the teenage victim of a drowning which occurred Thursday morning in a pond in Montague County.
Walker, 18, was fishing with a friend when he became stuck in thick moss and began to struggle. His friend tried to assist him but could not reach him to free him, reported the friend.
According to officials. Walker and a friend went to the pond to fish on Thursday morning. The two went out into the water to get to a kayak when Walker got caught in moss. His friend attempted to help but was unable to free him. The friend then called 911. source
Diving teams from Wichita Falls were called to the scene to help search for Walker. They were able to find his body on Thursday afternoon.
He was officially pronounced dead around 3:30.
His body was sent to Dallas for an autopsy.
A death investigation is ongoing.
