The victim of a fatal wreck involving a motorcycle and pickup truck on Edgewood Drive Sunday morning has been identified as 29-year-old Eric Sutherland.
Troopers say Sutherland was traveling west on Edgewood Drive when he drove left of center and struck a pickup driver head-on who was traveling the opposite direction on Edgewood Drive.
Sutherland’s Facebook page indicates he was an employee of the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated, in Piedmont, South Carolina.
One Facebook user sent her condolences:
“Julia Elizabeth Payne: Amy Leah Gilstrap i am so sorry baby. Eric Sutherland i cant believe you’re gone & so fast. The love amy has for you I’m sure you can feel past those pearly gates. I can’t believe this has happened. Your family & kids are in my prayers. Amy i love you.”
The coroner said the Sutherland was not wearing a helmet during the collision and suffered a fatal head injury. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Our thoughts and prayers are with family and friends at this difficult time.
