Tom DeLay Injured During Dance Rehearsal

We still have a week until the premiere of Dancing with The Stars but already a cast member has been injured.  That’s right, disgraced House Majority Leader Tom DeLay has hurt his foot while rehearsing with dance partner Cheryl Burke.

From DeLay’s twitter: “Old age is catching up to me. May have a stress fracture in my foot. No worries, it’ll take more than that to keep me off the dance floor.”

And right DeLay was as later in the day he updated his tweet saying that he didn’t have a stress fracture and that he’d “live for another day.” Sorry Democrats.

We’re not sure how hurt DeLay is and how this will affect his performance but it looks like he’ll be around.  The show premieres on September 21 so there is still plenty of time for someone to slip on a banana peel or have a piano dropped on them.  Surely, this will be the first of many celebrity injuries.

Kate Gosselin’s New Haircut

What do you all think of Kate Gosselin’s new haircut?  She debuted it today while guest-hosting The View and doesn’t she seemed pleased as punch about it.  I know that many, many, many, many (many, many, many) people are happy to see her old look go.  I think she looks happy and bright here but maybe a little too Elisabeth Hasselbeck for her own good.  Careful, Kate, the last thing you want is to mimic her.

Ambulance Called to Gosselin House, Everyone Fine

By the way, I think this is the only photo I’ll ever use of Jon Gosselin.  It’s just perfect.  Sorry Jon.

Mild drama this weekend as an ambulance was called to the Gosselin house out in Pennsylvania.  Did Jon and Kate Gosselin get into a violent screaming match?  No, nothing that explosive.  Jon’s grandmother had a fall and EMTs were brought to the house to take care of her.  Kind of anticlimactic, isn’t it?

Granny Gosselin was taken to a hospital.  Reports say she’s now fine and resting comfortably.

Thank God for Twitter, where Jon gave us this update: “Just to clear up any faulty reports: my grandmother did in fact fall in my driveway but she’ll [be] fine.  Thank you for all of the concerned calls.”

Wait, people were actually calling the house?  Like, total strangers were calling?  Weird.

The rest of the weekend seemed uneventful for the Gosselins.  Jon spent “Family Day” with the kids and played outside in the pool.

Kermit the Frog & Miss Piggy Appearing on “America’s Got Talent”

I don’t watch America’s Got Talent but I’ll be tempted tonight when my hero Kermit the Frog and his longtime girlfriend Miss Piggy will perform on the show.  Also appearing will be Statler and Waldorf, those grumpy old men who seem to dislike everything the Muppets do.  Before Simon Cowell, before Piers Morgan, there was Statler and Waldorf. Those guys are old school.

This is the 40-year anniversary of the Muppets.  Personally, I owe a lot of my childhood to the Muppets and I’m glad to see them being celebrated.

The show airs tonight at 9 PM.  Make sure to catch it if you’re a fan of the Muppets.  Or, you know, talented Americans.

Jon Gosselin Joins Twitter

"I LOVE TWEETING!"

Jon Gosselin, the happy father of eight, has joined the Twitter revolution.  His username is @jongosselin1 and, since his account is new, he mostly tweets about going to Vegas.  Expect future tweets about his children and nagging ex-wife.  Maybe we’ll get a lot of sadface emoticons if the divorce doesn’t go well.

His latest tweet: “On the plane, can’t wait to see the kids!!! The sugar factory goodies are on the way, they’ll flip when they see it all.”

We now have literally 24 hour access to the life of Jon Gosselin.  Big fight with Kate?  We’ll hear about it through Twitter.  Leaving the TLC show for greener pastures?  We’ll see his tweet before the news breaks.  This is a win-win for celebrity gossip fans.  Now we never have to be without Jon Gosselin’s pearls of wisdom.

In other Jon Gosselin news, Radar Online is reporting that Jon’s gal pal Hailey Glassman didn’t accompany Jon on his trip to Vegas.  It’s not a sign of relationship troubles but rather a promise Jon made to take his mother.  Aww.

Duggars Expecting 19th Child

More on the way!

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, the lovable leaders of 18 children on TLC’s 18 Kids and Counting, are expecting this 19th child.  Ninteenth!  Have they run out of names that start with “J” yet?

“We are so thrilled,” Michelle told People Magazine. “We just couldn’t believe it is happening.”

Really, you can’t believe it?  After 18th children you are still amazed by the act of childbirth?  Me, I’d be completely bored with it by now.  “Oh, another kid?  Great, now I have to wait nine months before I can drink again…”

No word from TLC if they plan on changing the title of the show.  It’ll surely be good ratings to see the family grow by one more.  Let’s start submitting our names for the baby now.  I suggest Jolie or Jabberjaw or Jonas…

VH1 Changing Its Tone

In trouble?

VH1 is in crisis.  Their cashcow, 51 Minds Entertainment, is under heavy fire after one of the contestants it hired for Megan Wants a Millionaire, Ryan Jenkins, brutally killed his ex-wife and went on the run, eventually committing suicide in Canada.  Needless to say, the screening process and overall procedure of the network and its favorite production company is being overlooked.

Tom Calderone, president of VH1, knows that things are going to have to change and is willing to spearhead the movement.  He told The LA Times that the network is sitting down with 51 Minds to “fix this problem and never ever let this happen again.” He also said that VH1 might not rely so heavily on the production company, which provided VH1 with The Surreal Life, Flavor of Love, Rock of Love and many more.

“We always want 51 Minds to be part of our arsenal and stable of creativity,” Calderone said.  “But the only way VH1 will survive and be healthy is to have several different voices and production partners.”

What do you folks think?  Is VH1’s go-to genre a bit old now?  Are you sick of seeing the umpteenth version of the same show?  Should VH1 focus more on music-oriented programs or stick to the reality TV genre?

Jon Gosselin DOESN’T Want Off The Show?

Jon Gosselin is slamming reports that say he wants off Jon & Kate Plus 8.  The reality TV star says the sources are mis-informed.

Speaking to People Magazine, Jon said: “I never said that.  A fan asked me, ‘Don’t you sometimes wish you could go back to a 9-to-5 job?’ [And my reply was,] ‘Yeah, because this is 24/7 and 9-to-5ers punch in and punch out and you have no responsibilities.’ “

“Here,” he continued, “You have to watch what you say so it doesn’t contradict something else.”

He later went on to explain that, even in his own house, he’s constantly being photographed and watched.  He also said that the kids, though sometimes annoyed at the filming, don’t want it to end yet. 

Everyone deserves a break now and again but I still really think that Jon is angling to get off the show sooner rather than later.  At the same time, can you blame him? The guy’s life is a circus.  Maybe he can quit by pushing the boundaries of what TLC can take.  He can just waltz into his living room naked or only talk in rhyme for days on end.  Then the fed-up network would get pissed and cancel the show!  Gosh, I’m a genius.

A&E Moves Forward with Jackson Brothers Reality Show

Sources say that A&E is moving ahead with a reality TV show revolving around the remaining Jackson Brothers.  The show was conceived before Michael Jackson passed away, although he wasn’t planning on being a part of the show.  However, the series will now have to deal with the death of Michael.  In fact, the show will probably be about the recent loss.

It’s not known which brothers are involved or when it’ll be filmed/aired.  We hear talk that the footage shot before Michael’s death will be shown on A&E rather soon so keep your eyes peeled for that. Again, don’t know if that will be a special or a pilot or what.  A&E is refusing to comment on any of the speculation but I’d expect to hear some official announcements soon.
