FREMONT COUNTY, IA. (THECOUNT) — Vincent Flanagan of Council Bluffs, Iowa, has been identified as the victim in a fatal Tuesday night crash near Pacific Junction.

Flanagan, 24, was killed Tuesday night in a vehicle crash while traveling southbound on Interstate 29 after 5:30 p.m. The northbound lanes are reportedly closed due to flooding and repairs.

The driver of a semi-trailer was traveling in the northbound lanes in the construction zone a few miles south of Pacific Junction, when for unknown reasons, he attempted to cross over to the other side of the interstate.

The big-rig then collided with a pickup truck driven by Flanagan.

The Iowa State Patrol report did not clarify whether the semi-trailer entered opposing lanes as part of the construction project.

The violent collision caused the pickup truck to role several times.

The driver of the semi, 63-year old Noello Orihuela of Bennett, Colo., was uninjured.

Flanagan did not survive the crash but no further information was provided by officials.

The investigation into the exact cause of the crash remains open.

According to social media, Flanagan was a bass player who graduated Humboldt High School.
