DNA Reveals UK Beef Burgers Contain 37 Percent Horse Meat

Well this would be a good story for Piers Morgan… Authorities say the DNA of horses and pigs has been found in ground beef burger products sold in the UK and Irish supermarkets.  Some products contained as much as 37 percent horse meat.

Out of 27 products analysed, 10 contained horse meat and 23 contained pig meat.

The Republic of Ireland’s food safety authority discovered the issue, identifying the meat came from two processing plants in Ireland, Liffey Meats and Silvercrest Foods, and the Dalepak Hambleton plant in Yorkshire.

Though it poses no risk health, people buying and consuming the burgers had no idea they were eating horse meat,

“In Ireland, it is not in our culture to eat horse meat and therefore, we do not expect to find it in a burger,” said one unlucky customer.

Retailers were ordered to remove all implicated batches of the burgers, at least until they get caught the next time…

Olympics Star Alex Morgan Scores Hat Trick In Victory

United States crushed Ireland, 5-0, thanks to a superduper hat trick performed by none other than Olympic gold, Alex Morgan.

“We’ve been waiting and itching to get out there on the field, I think (this) showed that we wanted to get out there and play. I just wanted to keep taking shots and they kept going my way. Abby and everyone just kept saying ‘Shoot! Shoot! It’s a slick surface!’ So I did. I was feeling it.” Alex said after the victory.

Alex scored the first time at the 24th minute mark, then again at 34 minutes, then again at 44 minutes. Sydney Leroux added two more goals to boost the U.S. to the victory and 4-0-2 for the season.

“Every time she touched the ball something dangerous happened,” Acting U.S. coach Jill Ellis said.

Good News: Andre 3000 As Jimi Hendrix in Biopic

Rolling Stone is reporting André 3000 is all set to play Jimi Hendrix in a biopic named All Is by My Side. It’s been a long time a coming and according to the Irish Film and Television Network the film is currently in preproduction in Wicklow, Ireland.

The film will scan Hendrix’s early career through 1966 and 1967. John Ridley, who penned Three Kings and 1997’s U Turn, is writing and directing the film.

Last summer there was some scuttlebutt about Hendrix’s estate trying to stop the project from moving forward but because the film is now in pre-production, we can surmise that the issues have been resolved.

I have to admit that I’m a bit excited about seeing how this one turns out!
