BRAY, IRELAND. (THECOUNT) — Troubled singer Sinead O’Connor twice on social media Thursday said she was planning to commit suicide following the recent death of her son Shane. Nesta Ali Shane O’Connor died of an apparent suicide. He was 17.
Shane was the son of musician Donal Lunny.
The singer posted that she had “decided to follow my son” on Thursday, insisting “there is no point living without him.”
She later tweeted that police had arrived and she was getting help, sadly adding it was only “a delay,” to her carrying out the act:
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have said that. I am with cops now on way to hospital. I’m sorry I upset everyone. I am lost without my kid and I hate myself. Hospital will help a while. But I’m going to find Shane. This is just a delay”
The singer was transported to an area hospital.
Reports say that O’Connor blames herself for the teenager’s death.
