Shocking numbers coming out of Chicago as eight people were killed and at least 40 wounded in a weekend chock full of extreme violence. Sadly the number of dead or wounded is nothing new for the embattled area.

The ever rising numbers showed a thousand more people shot in the windy city then compared to last year. There have been at least 595 homicides this year compared with 409 this same time last year.

Actress Debra Messing was slammed on social media after she posted a selfie calling for gun control minutes after a professor and a student were killed in a murder-suicide on the UCLA campus.

The now-deleted tweet, which depicted Messing in a gun control t-shirt, outraged some on social media who questioned the timing of the post.

Take a stand. This day was predetermined as a day of awareness. Don’t belittle the effort. #wecandobetter AM – 1 Jun 2016” h/t womanista

Later, Messing tried to clean up her mess:

Today we were asked to have our Voices heard. The horrendous Irony is the timing of yet another shooting. This has NOTHING to do with me.

Messing claims she was participating in a pre-planned campaign aimed at raising awareness of gun violence and was apparently talking a selfie for the campaign when she heard the breaking news.

Kim Kardashian Blasted After Tweeting Diamond Designer Handgun

Kim Kardashian may have quickly taken down the photo she Tweeted of her brand spankin’ new diamond encrusted designer pistol, but we have it here on for you to see post-deletion!

“Kim Kardashian is quite dense, isn’t she? Pledging to support the gun control movement and then uploading pictures of designer handguns…” one user wrote.

Some fans, however, quickly came to Kim’s defense.

“Kim Kardashian posted a pic of a gun on Instagram & now everyone is all pissed off. I forgot the 2nd amendment didn’t count for celebs,” one user quipped.

On Jan. 14, Kardashian tweeted she supported the pledge.

“Today, people in Newtown are making the #sandyhookpromise to reduce gun violence. Sign the pledge with me at .”

Following the Dec. 14 shootings, Kardashian posted several messages expressing her feelings about the incident.

“This is so so sad! These poor children,” she wrote. “These kids come to school to learn, never expecting this tragedy to happen. They didn’t deserve this. Praying for everyone involved!”

Back in June, Kardashian also posted a photo of a designer Yves Saint Laurent gun, according to The Sun.

And this isn’t the first time the star has found herself in trouble for her politics. In November, Kardashian sparked outrage when she attempted to comment on another hot-button issue.

She sent out a supportive Israel tweet, declaring to her almost 17 million followers that she was “Praying for everyone in Israel” during the heightened violence between the Israelis and Palestinians.  Her message was met with violent backlash, including death wishes.

She then tweeted she was “praying for Palestine,” and eventually deleted both messages and promised fans she would make an effort to learn more about the issue.

The reality star has not tweeted about the criticism.  foxnews

Backlash Grows Against Celebrities After Video Exposes Embarrassing Gun Violence Hypocrisy

Talk about shooting yourself in the foot! I notice most fans hate it when celebs get political or otherwise preachy. Do they actually think we look upon them as any kind of real role models? No! You damn idiot millionaires, we just want to see you rise and then crash and burn at your own hand. I think they call that human nature.images (2)

Celebs have not been able to escape the heat after a consortium of filmmakers put together this video showing the huge hypocrisy behind celebrities publicly taking a stance against guns and associated violence.

Why did all these celebrities drink the Kool-Aid? I mean they basically just killed their collective careers! In one fell swoop! Even people who tend to agree that guns indeed need some type of control still cannot help but see how dumb celebrities look in this video, trying to sell their beliefs.

When I say this is getting serious for celebs involved in this video, I mean it’s getting real serious. There is word of boycotts and people unfollowing them on Twitter by the scores.

I make a living reporting on celebrities and even I have to admit this video makes them all look so bad…

Where the Dixie Chicks Went Horribly Wrong

We all witnessed the fall of the Dixie Chicks.   When singer Natalie Maines exclaimed on the eve of the Iraq invasion, she was “…ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas”, It was all downhill from there.   Not because most Texans or Americas or even people of the World disagreed with her sentiments, but because of the arrogance.

Even everyday Americans, against the war, knew well enough to “shut up” when it came to publicly expressing feelings that showed a lack of sensitivity toward so many young women and men in fighting for their Country and their lives, in Iraq and Afghanistan.

At the time, Maines’ comments came off like a spoiled country star, who was high on herself, believing her voice suddenly could be used for something other than singing.

The comments set of a negative firestorm of debate.   Public reaction in the United States resulted in a huge loss of respect of country fans and the country music industry in general. Boycotts by country music radio stations and even death threats haunted the band.

In 1999, The People’s Choice Awards handed it’s top country award to the Chicks, as “Best New Artist” however, the awards show, that is decided by viewer voting, now told a distinctly different story with the release of the “comeback” record, “Taking the Long Way” by not even being nominated.   Toby Keith WAS nominated, Keith, publicly slammed the Chicks, releasing a song indicating he would “stick a boot up [the Chick’s] ass.”

On the other hand, in 2007, the same Chicks album won five Grammys (Including Album of the Year).   The Grammys do not consider viewer votes, only the votes of the close nit and historically politically-incorrect music community.

Even with the Grammys on the mantel, the band could still not recover, losing over half of its concert-going audience. Country radio once keen on the Chicks was now nonexistent.   Talk about killing the golden goose, Maines killed a gaggle.
