OH Woman Katherine Penn ID’d As Victim In Wednesday Reading Fatal Motorcycle Crash

THORNVILLE, OH. (THECOUNT) — Katherine L. Penn, 64, of Pickerington, Ohio, died Wednesday after the motorcycle she was operating crashed on Rush Creek Road near Township Road 2 in Reading Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Authorities said Penn was the sole occupant of the motorcycle.

Thornville is a village in Perry County in central Ohio, located east of Columbus. The fatal crash occurred in nearby Reading Township, where the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lancaster Post is leading the investigation.

According to troopers, the crash occurred shortly after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday as Penn was traveling southbound on Rush Creek Road. Investigators said she failed to negotiate a curve, causing the motorcycle to leave the right side of the roadway.

Authorities reported the motorcycle struck a fence before overturning. Penn was ejected during the crash and sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol said the exact circumstances that caused the motorcycle to leave the roadway remain under investigation. Officials have not released additional information regarding possible contributing factors.

The Perry County Coroner’s Office responded to assist with the investigation. Reading Township Fire and EMS also responded to provide emergency medical assistance, while A-One Towing assisted with clearing the crash scene.

Rush Creek Road remained the focus of the investigation as troopers documented evidence and examined the motorcycle. No other vehicles were reported to have been involved in the fatal collision.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. No additional information has been released.
