THAILAND (THECOUNT) — Connor Murphy, 32, was identified as the “Looksmaxxer” fitness influencer and bodybuilder who drowned in a lake in Thailand on July 7. Thai police responded to reports from members of the public about erratic behavior. Fairy, Murphy’s girlfriend, and her teenage sister were present during a prior incident at the rental home where Murphy was staying. Neighbors and witnesses also provided accounts of his actions on the day of the incident.
Before entering the lake, Murphy was heard screaming incoherently while claiming there were “dragons” in the water.

Thai police were called after members of the public reported that Murphy had been acting erratically and praying in the streets. When officers arrived, Murphy fled the scene and jumped into a nearby lake. Witnesses reported that he swam far from the shore until he succumbed to exhaustion and disappeared under the water. Rescue divers recovered his body roughly 20 metres from shore.
Local police found the rental home heavily vandalized with black and yellow paint. A search of Murphy’s vehicle uncovered two unused syringes and unidentified white pills. Authorities have launched a full investigation that includes an autopsy and toxicology report to determine the exact cause of death.
In the days before the incident, Murphy had made videos about his spiritual practices and had been observed near the lake where the drowning occurred. He had also spoken publicly about his views on modern dating and relationships formed overseas.
Murphy had a prior history of violence. Thai authorities reported that he smashed furniture and windows inside a villa and struck his girlfriend Fairy with a golf club. Fairy and her teenage sister escaped the home through a window before police arrived. Murphy later claimed the incident was a social media stunt and that Fairy had stabbed him, leaving a scar. It is believed the scar actually resulted from an appendectomy. Fairy has not yet addressed Murphy’s death on social media.
The investigation into the July 7 incident remains ongoing. Officials continue to review witness statements, physical evidence from the rental home and vehicle, and the results of the pending autopsy and toxicology report. No further details on the cause have been released at this time.
Murphy hailed from Austin, Texas. He worked as a fitness influencer, bodybuilder, and YouTuber with 2.8 million followers. He produced content about drug-induced ayahuasca ceremonies, prolonged fasts, and spiritual awakenings. Murphy had also promoted the “passport bro” movement, in which Western men travel overseas to seek relationships. In 2023 he wrote, “My type of woman is becoming extinct by the cataclysmic asteroid that is modern feminism.” He stated that dating in the Western world had become a nightmare due to social media and dating apps giving women access to high-value men. He described women in the West as too “masculine” and praised relationships formed abroad.
