OH Man Tyler Cole Williams ID’d As Victim In Sunday Roanoke Fatal Crash

ROANOKE COUNTY, VA. (THECOUNT) — A 19-year-old Virginia man identified as Tyler Cole Williams of Vinton, Virginia was killed early Sunday in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 81 in Roanoke County, Virginia, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred around 2:00 a.m. on Interstate 81 southbound approximately one mile north of Wildwood Road in Roanoke County.

According to Virginia State Police (VSP), Williams was driving a 2009 Pontiac G5 coupe that was stopped on the right side of Interstate 81 southbound at the time of the crash.

VSP reported that a 2018 Ford F-350 truck traveling southbound on Interstate 81 struck the stationary Pontiac while it was positioned on the right shoulder.

Troopers said the impact involved both vehicles in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 in Roanoke County.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following the crash. Williams was transported to LewisGale Medical Center in Roanoke County for treatment.

He later died from injuries sustained in the crash, according to Virginia State Police.

No additional injuries were reported in the initial release from authorities. The driver of the Ford F-350 has not been publicly identified.

VSP said the crash remains under investigation as troopers continue to review evidence and circumstances surrounding the collision.

Authorities have not announced any charges or citations in connection with the crash.
