LA Couple Michael & Lynette Douvio ID’d As Victims In Sunday Orange County Fatal Honda Trike Crash

ORANGE COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Michael Douvio, 71, and Lynette Douvio, 69, both of Duson, Louisiana, have been identified as the victims of a fatal three-wheeled motorcycle crash Sunday morning in Orange County, Texas, near the Louisiana state line.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, troopers responded at approximately 10:40 a.m. to Interstate 10 East near mile marker 868 following reports of a serious crash involving a Honda trike motorcycle.

Investigators said Michael Douvio was operating a Honda Gold Wing GL1800 three-wheeled motorcycle while Lynette Douvio was riding as a passenger.

Preliminary findings indicate the motorcycle, which was towing a small trailer, was traveling eastbound on Interstate 10 when it suffered a blowout on a rear tire.

Authorities said the vehicle subsequently struck a concrete barrier.

Both occupants were ejected during the collision.

Michael Douvio sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lynette Douvio was transported to a hospital for emergency treatment but later succumbed to injuries suffered in the crash.

Orange County is located in far southeastern Texas along the Louisiana border and serves as a major transportation corridor for traffic traveling between Texas, Louisiana, and the Gulf Coast region. Interstate 10 is one of the nation’s busiest east-west highways, carrying commercial and passenger traffic across the southern United States.

Duson, where the couple resided, is a community in southwestern Louisiana situated west of Lafayette.

The stretch of Interstate 10 where the crash occurred serves as a primary route for travelers moving between Houston, Beaumont, Lake Charles, and New Orleans.

The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the fatal crash.
