NY Man Warren Loza ID’d As Victim In Wednesday Owego Fatal Motorcycle Crash

TIOGA COUNTY, N.Y. (THECOUNT) — Warren O. Loza, of Vestal, New York, was killed early Wednesday morning in a motorcycle crash in the Town of Owego, located in New York’s Southern Tier region near the Pennsylvania border, authorities said.

Loza was 39 years old.

According to New York State Police, the fatal collision occurred shortly before 4 a.m. at the intersection of Forest Hill Road and State Route 434 in the Town of Owego.

Investigators said Loza was operating a motorcycle when an SUV entered Route 434 after the driver reportedly failed to see the approaching motorcycle.

Authorities said the SUV pulled onto the highway, resulting in a collision between the vehicle and Loza’s motorcycle.

Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene following reports of the crash. Despite response efforts, Loza suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Vestal, Loza’s hometown, is located in neighboring Broome County and forms part of the Greater Binghamton area in south-central New York. The Town of Owego is situated west of Binghamton in Tioga County and serves as one of the principal communities within the Southern Tier region.

The intersection of Forest Hill Road and Route 434 is located along a corridor that connects communities throughout Tioga and Broome counties and carries a combination of local and regional traffic.

Authorities have not released the identity of the SUV driver, and no information regarding injuries to that individual was immediately available.

Investigators also have not announced whether speed, impairment, visibility conditions, or other factors may have contributed to the collision. The crash occurred during pre-dawn hours when visibility can be limited.

Motorcycle crashes involving vehicles entering or crossing roadways often result in severe consequences due to the lack of physical protection available to riders. Investigators are expected to examine roadway evidence, vehicle damage, witness information, and other factors as part of the ongoing investigation.

The New York State Police continue to investigate the fatal crash and have not released additional details regarding potential enforcement actions or findings.
