JACKSON TWP., OH. (THECOUNT) — Mary Stoddart, 76, of Newton Falls, Ohio, died Tuesday following a collision involving a passenger vehicle and a heavy-duty commercial truck in Jackson Township, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Authorities said the fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Gladstone and North Bailey Road.
Investigators said Stoddart failed to stop at the intersection and drove into the path of a 2006 Western Star 4900 commercial truck.
The heavy-duty truck subsequently collided with Stoddart’s vehicle.
Emergency responders transported Stoddart to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment following the crash.
Officials said she later died from injuries sustained in the collision.
The driver of the Western Star truck was not injured.
Troopers remained at the scene Tuesday as investigators documented evidence and crews worked to clear the damaged vehicles from the intersection.
Jackson Township is located in northeastern Ohio near the Mahoning and Trumbull County region and includes several rural roadway corridors frequently traveled by commercial traffic.
Authorities have not yet released additional details regarding roadway conditions or other possible contributing factors in the crash.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol investigation remains ongoing.
