SUMMIT TWP. PA. (THECOUNT) — Skyler B. Gray, 22, of Cadogan, Pennsylvania, and Nevaeh S. Schweinsberg, 19, of Butler, Pennsylvania, were killed late Saturday night in a single-vehicle rollover crash along Freeport Road in Summit Township, according to authorities.
The crash occurred during the late evening hours of Saturday, May 16, on Freeport Road in Butler, also designated as Route 356, in Butler County, located north of Pittsburgh in western Pennsylvania.
According to investigators, Gray was operating a 2016 Honda Accord westbound on Freeport Road when she lost control of the vehicle.
Police said the vehicle spun before leaving the left side of the roadway.
Authorities reported the Honda then overturned and struck a tree.
Gray sustained fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead.
Schweinsberg, who was one of two passengers inside the vehicle, also suffered fatal injuries and died as a result of the crash.
An additional passenger, identified only as a 17-year-old female from Butler, sustained suspected serious injuries.
According to the crash report, the juvenile passenger was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover.
She was transported from the scene by STAT Medevac helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.
Authorities have not publicly released an update on her condition.
The crash report indicates “DUI” as the cause of the crash.
Emergency responders from multiple agencies were dispatched to the crash scene along Freeport Road late Saturday night as police, firefighters, EMS personnel, and aviation medical crews worked to assist victims and secure the roadway.
Traffic in the area was affected while investigators documented the crash scene and crews removed the damaged vehicle.
Investigators also have not released information regarding possible speed, impairment, weather conditions, or whether the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
The fatal collision remains under active investigation.
No additional details have been released by authorities at this time.
