DALLAS COUNTY, AL. (THECOUNT) — Kimeia Bennett, of Uniontown, Alabama, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning in Dallas County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Bennett was 43.
The crash occurred at approximately 3:50 a.m. along Highway 80, about eight miles west of Selma. Authorities said Bennett was a passenger in a Hyundai Sonata traveling along the roadway when the incident occurred.
According to officials, the vehicle departed the roadway, struck a guardrail, and overturned. The force of the crash resulted in Bennett being ejected from the vehicle.
Bennett was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officials.
Authorities reported that Bennett was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Hyundai and another passenger were transported to Vaughan Regional Medical Center for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.
Highway 80 is a major east-west corridor in west Alabama, connecting Selma with surrounding communities in Dallas County and neighboring regions. The stretch west of Selma is commonly traveled by local and regional traffic, particularly during overnight and early morning hours.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency confirmed the crash remains under investigation.
