Saturday Idaho Ducati Motorcycle Crash Claims Life Of Young Man Near Lucky Peak

ADA COUNTY, ID. (THECOUNT) — A 21-year-old male motorcyclist was killed Saturday evening after crashing on Highway 21 near Lucky Peak in Ada County, Idaho, according to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office. Ada County is home to Boise, the state capital, and is located in southwestern Idaho in the Treasure Valley region.

The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released, pending notification of next of kin by the Ada County Coroner’s Office.

The crash occurred at approximately 6:34 p.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, on State Highway 21 at milepost 11. According to the Ada County Sheriff’s Office, preliminary information indicates the victim was operating a 2024 Ducati Supersport motorcycle southbound on Highway 21 when he crossed into the oncoming northbound lane and collided with a 2005 Ford F-250.

The motorcyclist was airlifted by Life Flight and transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The driver of the Ford F-250 was not identified in the initial release. No information regarding injuries to the driver of the F-250 was released at this time.

Following the crash, State Highway 21 was blocked in both directions north of Lucky Peak Dam as emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

The Ada County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation into the fatal crash.

Highway 21, also known as the Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway, is a two-lane state highway running northeast from Boise into the mountains of central Idaho. The highway passes through rugged terrain along the Boise River corridor and is a popular route for motorcyclists, particularly during warmer months. The area near Lucky Peak and the Lucky Peak Dam is a well-known recreational corridor southeast of Boise, drawing visitors to Lucky Peak State Park and the reservoir throughout the spring and summer seasons.

Lucky Peak Dam sits approximately 10 miles southeast of downtown Boise along the Boise River. The stretch of Highway 21 near milepost 11 passes through a mountainous, curving section of roadway that requires careful navigation, particularly at higher speeds.

Ada County is the most populous county in Idaho, with a population of over 500,000 residents. Boise serves as the county seat and is the largest city in the state. The county is part of the Boise City–Nampa metropolitan statistical area, which encompasses the broader Treasure Valley region including the cities of Meridian, Nampa, and Caldwell.

Idaho consistently records motorcycle fatalities during the spring and summer riding seasons, with rural state highways presenting particular risks due to winding terrain, elevation changes, and limited guardrail protection. The Idaho Transportation Department tracks motorcycle safety as a priority concern across the state.
