TN Man Kevyon Jackson ID’d As Suspect Killed In Tuesday Memphis Police Chase

MEMPHIS, TN. (THECOUNT.COM) — Kevyon Jackson was identified by family members as the man killed after crashing into a box truck during a law enforcement pursuit Tuesday at 9:16 p.m in the Raleigh area of Memphis, Tennessee.

The fatal crash occurred at the intersection of James Road and Warford Street following a pursuit involving members of the Memphis Safe Task Force, according to information provided by the U.S. Marshals Service.

Authorities stated task force members attempted to stop Jackson in the 3100 block of Madewell in the Frayser neighborhood. According to the information released, Jackson then fled, leading officers on a pursuit that lasted approximately five miles.

The pursuit ended when Jackson’s vehicle crashed into a box truck at James Road and Warford Street. Officials said both vehicles flipped multiple times as a result of the collision.

Jackson was killed in the crash. No additional fatalities were reported in the incident.

Britney Clements, Jackson’s aunt, said the family is struggling to cope with his death.

“My emotions are everywhere. Like, our family has taken a major loss. It’s heartbreaking, even for you to even get on social media and see everybody trying to paint a picture as if he was a bad person,” Clements said.

Clements also said Jackson, who goes by “Mvc Rambo” on Facebook, was on the phone with a family member during the pursuit.

“My sister was on the phone with my nephew the whole time up until you’re at the boom of the crash,” she said.

According to information from the U.S. Marshals Service Safe Task Force, Jackson had active warrants for aggravated assault. However, family members disputed that claim, providing documentation they said showed the aggravated assault charges had been expunged from his record.

FOX13 reported it found no active warrant for Jackson in the Shelby County warrant database.

FOX13 also reported discovering a warrant from March of the previous year that showed Jackson had gone to jail in connection with the case and that no further action was taken by a court.

Clements said she believes the task force made a mistake in how the situation was handled.

The incident remains under review. No additional details were released.
