OK Woman Shea James ID’d As Victim In Saturday Fatal OKC Crash

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. (THECOUNT.COM) — Patricia “Shea” James, a 28-year-old woman from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was killed early Saturday morning after her vehicle crashed into a barrier wall and caught fire near the Interstate 35 and Interstate 40 interchange, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers said the fatal crash occurred as James was traveling northbound on Interstate 35 before transitioning onto eastbound Interstate 40, a major highway corridor that runs through the Oklahoma City metropolitan area and serves as a primary east-west route across the state.

According to a preliminary crash report released by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, James was driving in the left lane when her vehicle left the roadway and struck a concrete barrier wall. Following the impact, the vehicle caught fire. Troopers confirmed that James was the sole occupant of the vehicle at the time of the crash.

James was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the collision and subsequent fire, authorities said.

The crash occurred near the junction of Interstate 35 and Interstate 40, an area of Oklahoma City that experiences heavy traffic due to its role as a central interchange connecting northern and southern Oklahoma with destinations across the state and region. Interstate 35 runs north-south through Oklahoma, connecting Oklahoma City with cities such as Norman to the south and Edmond to the north, while Interstate 40 spans east-west across the state.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol officials stated in their report that James was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. No other vehicles were reported to be involved, and no additional injuries were reported.

Troopers did not immediately release information regarding possible contributing factors beyond what was documented in the initial report. The circumstances leading up to the vehicle leaving the roadway have not yet been determined.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash. As is standard procedure in fatal collisions, investigators will review roadway conditions, vehicle evidence, and other available data to determine the cause.

No additional details were released as of the latest update.
