WATCH: Dr Disrespect Teases Return Following Sexting Controversy and Twitch Ban

LOS ANGELES, CA. (THECOUNT) — Guy “Dr Disrespect” Beahm, the embattled streamer who rose to fame with his ’80s action movie persona, is promoting a return to the spotlight months after going offline. Beahm, previously banned from Twitch in 2020 amid a “sexting” controversy, has teased an event for September 6, marking his first live appearance since admitting to inappropriate conversations with an underage user.

On Thursday, Beahm tried to preempt criticism and pedophile jokes that often appear under his social media posts. “WHeRe’s He CoMinG from, Epstein iSlAnd?” he tweeted, attempting to downplay the ongoing backlash.

Dr Disrespect first gained fame by streaming games like PUBG and Warzone, earning millions of followers and accolades, including the Trending Gamer of the Year award at the 2017 Game Awards. However, in June of this year, a former Twitch employee publicly accused him of being banned for sending inappropriate messages to a minor, a claim corroborated by major media outlets like The Verge, Bloomberg, and Rolling Stone. Beahm admitted to conversations that leaned “inappropriate” but denied any illegal conduct.

Despite deleting his statement regarding the allegations, Beahm is now preparing for a potential return to streaming, though his corporate sponsors and gaming partners have cut ties. His YouTube channel, while not banned, has been demonetized, preventing him from earning revenue from his massive fanbase.

If Beahm follows through with his planned return, it won’t be the first time he’s attempted to bounce back from controversy. In 2017, after admitting to cheating on his wife, he returned to streaming with a record 300,000 concurrent viewers.
