FRITCH, TX. (THECOUNT) — Steven Ray of Fritch, Texas, has been identified as the victim in a fatal motorcycle crash Saturday night around 8 p.m. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
Ray, 46, was traveling at “an unsafe speed for a curve in the roadway,” according to authorities.
Ray was riding a 2003 Harley Davidson when he failed to negotiate the curve, causing the motorcycle to travel off the right side of the road and hit a culvert.
Despite wearing a helmet, Ray was pronounced dead at the scene by Hutchinson County Justice of the Peace Amanda Wysong.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Hutchinson County is a county in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, its population was 20,617. Its county seat is Stinnett. The county was created in 1876, but not organized until 1901. It is named for Andrew Hutchinson, an early Texas attorney.
