‘Please Come To Boston’ Singer Songwriter David Loggins Dies At 76

NASHVILLE, TN. (THECOUNT) — David Allen Loggins, the Grammy-nominated Hall of Fame singer/songwriter best known for “Please Come To Boston,” passed away on July 10th, 2024, at Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN. He was 76 years old.

Born in Shady Valley, TN, Loggins began his life as a small-town boy in Bristol, TN, before moving to Nashville, where he became one of the most prolific songwriters in the music industry. Over five decades, Loggins crafted hit songs for numerous artists, including Three Dog Night, Joan Baez, Don Williams, Johnny Cash, Toby Keith, Wynonna Judd, Alabama, Lee Greenwood, Smokey Robinson, Ray Charles, Reba McEntire, Tanya Tucker, Restless Heart, Kenny Rogers, and Willie Nelson.

Loggins holds the unique record of being the only unsigned artist to win a CMA award for his 1986 duet with Anne Murray, “Nobody Loves Me Like You Do.” He also penned “Augusta,” the longest-running sports theme in history, for the Augusta Masters Golf Tournament.

He is survived by his three sons, Quinn Loggins, Kyle Loggins, and Dylan Loggins, as well as his grandson, Braxton Loggins. Per Dave’s request, there will be no funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice in Nashville, TN.
