CADDO PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Police have apprehended Charvas Thompson, the man accused of murdering a beloved Alief ISD teacher, Wendy Duan, in Sugar Land, Texas during a domestic violence incident last Saturday.
Thompson, 26, was arrested in Caddo Parish, Louisiana on Wednesday.
According to reports, Sugar Land police responded to a call of shots fired Saturday at 9:50 p.m. in the 1100 block of Oxford Mills Lane. When they arrived, Duan was found in a backyard area suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds.
During a subsequent investigation, police named Thompson as a suspect. Police said they confirmed Thompson’s vehicle was in the area at the time of the shooting using footage from license plate recognition cameras.
Police issued an arrest warrant early Sunday morning charging Thompson with murder.
Sugar Land police worked with the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force and the Western District of Louisiana Violent Offenders Task Force to locate Thompson in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Thompson is expected to be transported to the Fort Bend County jail soon. His bond is set at $500,000.
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
