LAKE COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — Ronnie Goggans Jr., of Grayslake, Illinois, and Ricky Smallwood, of Antioch, Illinois, have been identified as the victims in a Monday double-fatal vehicle crash in Lake County.
Goggans, 32, and 54-year-old Smallwood, were both killed in an early Monday morning head-on vehicle crash near Gurnee.
According to reports, Goggans was operating an Nissan Altima on Route 41 near Stearns School Road, when for unknown reasons, the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes. The vehicle then came into head-on contact with a Ford Edge operated by Smallwood.
Both drivers were pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
