VANDERBURGH COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Gamia Lechelle Stuart, of Evansville, Indiana, has been identified as the victim in a Sunday morning fatal shooting in Vanderburgh County.
Clifton Fletcher, 44, was arrested overnight and charged with murder.
According to reports, police responded to the 1600 block of Clayton Avenue in Evansville on reports of a shooting around 9 a.m. Sunday. When they arrived, Stuart was found suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Stuart was pronounced dead of multiple gunshot injuries at the scene.
The affidavit shows Stuart was on the phone with a friend when Fletcher approached her opened fire.
The victim told her friend she was being “followed” by Fletcher.
Officials say Fletcher and the female victim had a relationship of some kind. Fletcher’s police records revealed he pointed a gun at Stuart and threatened to kill her and himself back in April of this year.
