WV Man Andrew Wyrick ID’d As DUI Driver In Wednesday St. Albans Double-Fatal Crash Involving Child ‘THC’

KANAWHA COUNTY, WV. (THECOUNT) — Andrew Jackson Wyrick, of Hurricane, West Virginia, has been identified as the suspected DUI driver in a Wednesday evening crash that killed two people and critically injured a 6-year-old child in Kanawha County.

Wyrick, 25, is facing multiple counts of DUI causing death and bodily harm following a two-vehicle crash in St. Albans on Wednesday.

According to reports, Wyrick was operating a vehicle on MacCorkle Avenue & Winfield Road SW in Saint Albans, when the vehicle crossed centerlines and into opposing lanes before coming into head-on contact with a Chevrolet Equinox Wednesday around 4:30 p.m.

A female traveling in the Equinox was pronounced dead at the scene, while another female died shortly after transported at an area hospital. A male and a 6-year-old child were transported in critical condition.

According to records, both of the surviving victims suffered internal injuries and broken bones.

Wyrick escaped the crash uninjured.

Wyrick admitted to investigators to using a cannabis cartridge about 30 to 45 minutes before the crash, “hitting a Delta-8 and Delta-9 THC” several times, according to the criminal complaint from Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

Wyrick was transported to jail and faces two counts of DUI causing death and two counts of DUI with serious bodily injury.
