ST. LOUIS COUNTY, MN. (THECOUNT) — Brother and sister, Matt Schmidt, of Burnsville, Minnesota and Alyssa Schmidt, of St. Paul, Minnesota, have been identified as the passengers killed in a Saturday night triple-fatal plane crash in St. Louis County. Tyler Fretland, of Williston, North Dakota, has been identified as the deceased pilot.
Matt, 31, Alyssa, 32, and 32-year-old Fretland, were all killed in a Saturday night small plane crash in the 5100 block of West Arrowhead Road in Hermantown, just south of Duluth International Airport.
According to reports, the trio were traveling in a Cessna 172, when for unknown reasons, the aircraft went down and crashed into a Hermantown home Saturday night.
All three people aboard the plane died in the crash.
Two occupants in the house, Jason and Crystal Hoffman, were not injured in the crash that happened Saturday just minutes before midnight.
NTSB is performing its investigation.
