NEW MADRID COUNTY, MO. (THECOUNT) — Heather Patterson Polk, of New Madrid, Missouri, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday fatal vehicle crash in New Madrid County.
Polk, 44, was killed in a two-vehicle crash involving teen driver, Hannah McNabb of Holcomb Wednesday night.
According to reports, McNabb was operating a Chevy Cruze on Interstate 55 near US-62 in New Madrid, when the vehicle failed to stop at an intersection. The vehicle then came into contact with a Mazda 6 operated by Polk around 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Polk was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries at the scene.
McNabb and her passenger, 21-year-old Jasmen Hedrick of Portageville, were transported to to a Cape Girardeau hospital in serious unknown condition.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
