LORAIN COUNTY, OH. (THECOUNT) — A GoFundMe has been started for Kaleb Keffer, the teenager who died in the hospital August 27 after suffering injuries in a vehicle crash on August 23 in Lorain County.
Keffer, 16, an Avon High School wrestling team member, died on Aug. 27 after being involved in a two-vehicle crash near Sheffield four days before.
According to reports, Keffer was operating a Hyundai Santa Fe on the 2280 block of Abbe Road in Sheffield Lake, when the vehicle came into head-on contact with a semi-tractor around 10:15 p.m. August 23.
Keffer died of injuries suffered in the crash while in the hospital on Saturday.
The driver of the semi was a man in his 30s who was treated at the scene and released.
No one was cited at the scene.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
A GoFundMe for the teen had raised over $17,000 as of Monday evening.
