VIGO COUNTY, IN. (THECOUNT) — Several Indiana State University football player are believed to be among the five victims in a triple-fatal vehicle crash in Vigo County Sunday.
Indiana State University confirmed that three Indiana State students – including several Sycamores football players – were involved in a fiery fatal single-vehicle accident on Sunday morning in Riley.
According to reports, there were five people total in the vehicle that crashed on Indiana 46 near Main Street in Riley on Sunday. The vehicle, for unknown reasons, exited the roadway and made contact with a substantial tree. The vehicle then burst into flames.
The unidentified driver and two other occupants were pronounced deceased on the scene.
“This is a terrible tragedy,” ISU President Dr. Deborah J. Curtis said. “As we are waiting on additional details from authorities investigating this accident, our hearts go out to the families and friends of the students involved.”
