POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, KS. (THECOUNT) — Randy Tinkel, of Wamego, Kansas, has been identified as the victim in a Wednesday fatal multi-vehicle crash in Pottawatomie County.

Tinkel, 37, was killed in a three-vehicle crash that seriously injured four other individuals Wednesday night near Wamego.

According to reports, Tinkel was operating a pickup truck with three passengers on Highway 24 near Airport Road in Wamego, when the pickup slowed for a slow-moving SUV round 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. A semi-tractor, operated by 44-year-old Mark Stanwix, of Lecompton, then rear ended the pickup truck which then made contact with the SUV, operated by 34-year-old Megan Schindler, of St. Marys.

Tinkel was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

Tinkel’s passengers, 36-year-old Jillian Tinkel and two children, age 7 and 2, were transported to an area hospital with serious unknown injuries.

Schindler was transported to an area hospital with serious unknown injuries.

Stanwix was not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
